SALVATION: Many people ask questions like, 'How do I know when I am saved?' Can I be saved? Why do I need to be saved? What must I do to be saved? In the Bible, when individuals asked similar questions, the Apostle Peter and the other apostles replied, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2:38). Peter's command fulfilled the words of Jesus, who said, "Except a man be born again - of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:3, 5). Salvation refers to being saved or delivered from the bondage and consequences of sin through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, and it is a continuous process. We are not once saved, always saved. Salvation encompasses three aspects: 1) Being born again, 2) Maturing in Christ, and 3) Being caught up to heaven. The Lord Jesus offers salvation to all, but not everyone chooses to become or remain saved. Just as a prisoner freed from prison makes the decision never to return to prison and change their ways, or to continue breaking the law and end up back in prison. That's why the Bible states, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" (Galatians 6:7).
